Number of anchors per board: (Usable Length / Spacing for anchors) - 1. For my beds, I need 7 separators for each 8 foot board and 3 for each 4 foot board.
The 4x8 foot garden beds I bought, for instance, are 4x8 feet from end to end. But when you connect the boards at the corners, you lose a few inches, so the interior dimensions of the garden bed are actually a few inches short of the advertised size. In my case, my beds have an interior dimension of 46.25 inches x 94 inches. I refer to these dimensions as Usable Length for the remainder of this article.
Another approach is to use concrete blocks, although less aesthetically pleasing, they are inexpensive to source and easy to use. On the market are also prefab raised garden bed solutions which are made from long lasting polyethylene that is UV stabilized and food grade so it will not leach undesirable chemicals into the soil or deteriorate in the elements.
These beds do not need the usual distance between each row because you are not going to walk in the bed to cultivate or harvest. Vegetables can be spaced far enough apart to be able to avoid crowding but be close enough to shade out any weeds.
