Total number of anchors: Add the results of Step 2, and multiply by 2. In my example, (7+3) * 2 = 20 anchors.
When growing vegetables in raised garden beds using the Square Foot Gardening method, your beds will need to be sectioned off into one-foot sections called planting squares.
These beds do not need the usual distance between each row because you are not going to walk in the bed to cultivate or harvest. Vegetables can be spaced far enough apart to be able to avoid crowding but be close enough to shade out any weeds.
I wish somebody would build a Square Foot Gardening grid that you can insert into a raised garden bed to mark off squares, but until this is available, if you want to use the Square Foot Gardening method, you will need to devise your own method for marking off squares.
